Heads Up British Party-Goers: Major Changes for Mallorca and Ibiza Revelers!

If you’ve been daydreaming about going wild on the beaches of Mallorca and Ibiza, there’s some crucial info coming your way! The Balearic Islands’ big boss of tourism has dropped a clear message for everyone: party responsibly or you might just get a one-way ticket back home.

So, what’s the lowdown? The local governments of our beloved party havens – Mallorca, Ibiza, and the rest of the Balearic – are revising their game plan when it comes to tourist antics. The aim? Keep the fun in check and curb any over-the-top, wild behavior. Apparently, they’ve been peeping at Amsterdam’s playbook, which has been all about keeping those rowdy British tourists in line recently.

Jaume Bauza, the head honcho of tourism in the Balearic Islands, chatted with Diario de Ibiza and dished on a few details. First up, there might be some wallet-hurting fines if you get too wild. Plus, they’re pressing pause on dishing out new tourist licenses for another four years. Why? They think there’s just too many tourists, especially after they greenlit a whopping 115,000 spots in the eight years leading up to 2022.

Now, before you freak out, they’re still figuring out the specifics of these rules. But, some of the ideas floating around include putting rule-breakers on the naughty list or even booking them a surprise flight back home.

Bauza made it super clear though: they’re mostly watching out for the real wild ones, those who just can’t keep their cool.

A quick flashback for y’all: this ain’t the first time the Balearic Islands have tried to reign in the party. Back in 2020, they introduced some heavy fines (think £50,000!) for daredevils jumping off balconies. Plus, they set some early bedtime for booze shops and put a stop to those crazy drink deals.

So, party animals, while the vibes in Mallorca and Ibiza will always be electric, it’s all about balancing fun and respect. Party on, but keep it classy!
