Renowned British DJ and music producer, Michael Bibi, has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma. According to the artist, the disease is progressing rapidly, requiring him to remain in hospital for ongoing treatment.
Bibi took to Instagram to announce his diagnosis to his multitude of fans. The 32-year-old star, a prominent figure in the British dance scene, noted the uncertainty of his future while expressing resolve in his battle against the disease. “I don’t know what lies ahead, I’m tired but I know I am strong and I won’t let this beat me,” Bibi shared in his heartfelt post.
Famed for his distinctive groove style of house music, Bibi has entertained audiences worldwide, serving as a resident DJ at the prestigious DC10 nightclub in Ibiza. The much-loved DJ was also slated to perform at this year’s Parklife festival in Manchester and the legendary Glastonbury festival.
Bibi’s Instagram post featured an image of him flashing a peace sign, a cannula conspicuously present on his hand. His caption included an apology for the somber news, but also a vow of resilience, “I will be back stronger for you all. Love Bibi.”
Solid Grooves, the record label founded by Bibi, joined in expressing support for their luminary artist, lauding him for taking the brand global and maturing into an “international superstar.” The team sent their heartfelt love and support for his recovery, hoping to make more memories with him soon.
From London Heavyweight to Global Superstar
Michael Bibi’s rapid ascent over the past five years from a London favorite to a global phenomenon is a testament to his dedication and skill. His unique music style and Solid Grooves-branded UK warehouse parties, along with his popular Ibiza residency, have placed him at the forefront of a new generation of ravers.
Despite his international acclaim, Bibi has retained his humility, continuing to inspire those who knew him from his early career. News of his illness has undoubtedly shaken his fans and colleagues, with the dance community rallying behind him in this difficult time.
Support From the Dance Music Community
Numerous prominent artists within the dance music scene, including Skrillex and Jamie Jones, have shown their support for Bibi in comments on his Instagram post.
