Hey technoheads! Just when you thought the techno scene couldn’t get any wilder, Elon Musk and our beloved experimental goddess, Grimes, drop a beat that’s too good not to share. Freshly pressed from the biography decks of Walter Isaacson, the Musk-Grimes collab has unveiled their third ensemble: a little raver named Techno Mechanicus. But for those back-alley afterparties, you can call him Tau.
This electrifying addition to the Musk-Grimes lineup adds another track to their record, which already boasts bangers like X Æ A-12 (that one’s a trip, just call him X) and the deep, celestial vibes of Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. Much like a secret warehouse gig, they’ve kept Tau’s existence hush-hush until now.
Taking a deeper dive into the Elon record crate, we find he’s collaborated (in the baby-making sense) with three different women, producing ten mini-ravers. One intriguing remix features Neuralink’s Shivon Zilis. Elon, being the visionary DJ he is, offered to contribute his ‘sample’ to Zilis, which dropped the twin beats of 2021. Word on the BPM is that Grimes was spinning another track and was left out of the loop during her own Musk collaboration.
Speaking of drops and loops, the Musk-Grimes partnership has hit a few glitches. They briefly paused their duet in 2021. Grimes, vocal as ever, described Musk’s rage mode as his “demon mode” – chaotic for sure, but sometimes that’s when the best mixes are made.
Grimes, ever the ethereal songstress, recently poured her heart out on social media, seeking a reconnect with Musk and their ensemble. Her voice echoing pain, she revealed she hadn’t even glimpsed a snap of her newest beats.
In her own studio, Grimes dropped ‘Miss Anthropocene’ in 2020, and has been cooking up new sounds since. Recently, she unveiled some next-level tech, software that replicates her vocals – and she’s letting artists remix it for a pretty penny.
Lastly, in a classic Elon twist, the bio revealed how he went full “bouncer mode,” having his SpaceX crew jam communications near Crimea to prevent some drone buzzkill targeting Russian ships. Classic Elon, always ensuring the party goes on.
So, ravers, next time you’re on the dancefloor, raise a glow stick for Baby Tau – the newest member of techno royalty.
