A 12-year-old aspiring DJ, known by his stage name DJ Hypester, recently had a remarkable experience at CarFest in Overton, Hampshire. Harry Frost, the young talent, held a sign with a simple request: “Let me DJ.” Little did he know that this act would lead to him performing the festival’s closing set.
Harry’s 30-minute drum and bass performance on Sunday night left him elated, describing the entire experience as “amazing.” Even the renowned UK drum and bass duo, Chase and Status, recognized his potential, referring to Harry as a “legend in the making.” Their praise came after a video of his performance circulated on social media, with the duo wishing him the best in his promising DJ career.
Hailing from Woolton Hill, Harry has been honing his DJing skills for five years. Accompanied by his parents at CarFest, he wisely brought along a USB stick containing some of his work, just in case the opportunity to perform arose. That very opportunity materialized when festival organizers spotted his sign.
Despite his initial nervousness, Harry shared, “I was saying to myself ‘nerves are good,’ because that’s what gives me the adrenaline rush, and I like the adrenaline on stage.”

Harry faces unique challenges, as he has autism and ADHD. Remarkably, his mother, Barbra, sees these conditions as an advantage in his musical journey. She believes they contribute to his “fantastic memory” and aid him in deconstructing songs and seamlessly blending tracks together.
“This really helps him with DJing as well,” Barbra explained. “He can break down songs really well, he can hear the pitch and work out how to put two tracks together.”
In addition to his performance, Harry had the opportunity to meet CarFest founder and former Radio 1 DJ, Chris Evans. Looking forward, Harry is eager to return to the festival next year with hopes of securing a longer DJ set, furthering his journey in the world of music.
