The house music world has lost one of its most iconic voices. Ron Carroll, the Chicago DJ, vocalist and songwriter known as “The Minister of Sound,” has died at the age of 57.
Carroll first made waves in the 1990s with tracks like My Prayer and went on to work with some of the biggest names in house music, including Barbara Tucker, Bob Sinclar, Axwell, and Superfunk. His uplifting voice and gospel-inspired style helped define the sound of vocal house and made him a favourite on dancefloors worldwide.
He was still active in the scene and was due to play at Amsterdam Dance Event this year. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Tributes have poured in from DJs, friends, and fans, remembering him not only as a house music legend but also as a positive and inspiring presence in the community.
Ron Carroll’s voice and spirit will live on through the music he gave to the world.
