Renowned DJ Fat Tony, whose real name is Anthony Marnoch, was attacked while performing at The Lido Leisure Centre in Margate, Kent, on December 13, 2024. During his set, he was struck in the DJ booth by another individual in what he described as a homophobic assault.
The 57-year-old music star sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket in three places and a broken cheekbone. Paramedics treated him on-site before he was transferred to the hospital for further care.
Kent Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Initially, no arrests were made, but a 36-year-old man from Whitstable was later taken into custody on suspicion of assault and remains under investigation.

Fat Tony, known for his uplifting message of love and positivity, expressed heartbreak over the violent incident, noting that slurs were directed at him during the altercation. “My work has always been about bringing love to the world,” he shared, emphasizing the need for safe and inclusive spaces in the entertainment industry.
The attack prompted an outpouring of support from fans and celebrities alike. Figures such as Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Davina McCall, and Ellie Goulding sent messages of solidarity. Fat Tony is now recovering at home with his partner, Stavros Agapiou, and their dogs.
Due to his injuries, Fat Tony canceled his planned performance at Bar Number 90 in Hackney Wick, London. The show has been rescheduled for January 25, 2025. Despite the setback, he remains optimistic, stating, “The love and support I’ve received have been overwhelming. It’s a reminder of the good that exists even in dark times.”
