MOTRAXX returns with its fourth compilation, continuing its focus on Brazil’s electronic music scene. Curated by Mochakk, the project brings together a range of sounds, from disco house to tech house, all shaped by different influences across the country.
Volume 4 features tracks from QUANT, Pricila Diaz with Qüist, Coppola, Jay Mariani with Bora Uzer, and PANNA. Each artist brings their own style, but all share a focus on music made for the dancefloor. The compilation opens with QUANT’s “Breathe”, a disco house track built around a steady bassline, saxophone touches, and a soulful vocal. The track reflects his musical background and marks a step forward in his sound, one for the lovers of a deep funky beat that ticks all the boxes.
As QUANT comments about releasing on Mochakk’s label: “Releasing on MOTRAXX is a true dream come true, marking a significant milestone in my journey. I’ve long admired Mochakk, ever since I first heard ‘Seschi & the Clown’ during my early years in Portugal. To now be his friend and release on his label is incredibly meaningful, affirming that I am on the right path.”
Pricila Diaz and Qüist team up on “Hailey”, a minimal and groovy tech house track with Brazilian vocals which has received great support from renowned artists such as Michael Bibi. “Qüist sent me the original track, saying she’d love to hear what I could do with it. The moment I pressed play, it just hit differently. The lyrics, the flow, the vibe, everything felt tailor-made for me. I could already picture it going off in clubs, so I locked in and made my version straight away. The crowd reaction was insane, and when I showed Qüist, she was buzzing and said yes instantly,” says Pricila Diaz.
Coppola’s “Rebel Boogie Nights” follows, building tension before dropping into a disco-driven groove, with Jay Mariani and Bora Uzer bringing “If I Ain’t Movin” – a stripped-back disco house track driven by bass and rhythm. PANNA closes the release with “Falei Assim”, a minimal house track with hints of UK garage and Latin percussion, offering a different tone to end the compilation. It stands apart from everything else on the release, and in doing so, makes the point better than anything else on the tracklist: Brazilian producers do not come from one place or one sound.
With Volume 4, MOTRAXX continues to highlight new Brazilian talent and give artists space to share their sound.
